Many years ago, this big Maine Coon stray cat came visiting and decided to stay. (Apparently the Stray Animal Hotline published the address of Julie Anna Lopez; she was always a sucker for homeless cats and dogs). Although a full male, Kitty Grey was the sweetest, friendliest cat ever who loved the student tours. He’d wait on the information booth counter until a kid would pick him up. Being a heavyweight, he was passed from arms to arms throughout the tour. If only he could speak English, he could have been a tour guide.
George Paloheimo was not a big fan of Kitty Grey so, of course, he paid George special attention. Somewhere in the Museum is a photo of the big cat stretched out across the papers on George’s desk.
Alas, Kitty Grey’s busy life caught up with him and he died in the early 1990s. His ashes were buried with much sorrow and weeping in the Morada cemetery. You can see his little wooden cross with its kitty milagro.
