El Rancho de las Golondrinas Board Member Appointed to the National Museum and Library Services Board

El Rancho de las Golondrinas is pleased to announce that on December 6, Board Member and National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) Art Museum Director Dr. Tey Marianna Nunn was sworn in as a member of the National Museum and Library Services (NMLS) Board. Nunn, along with five other individuals, was appointed by President Barack Obama in late November.

“I was thrilled to get the call and I am so honored to be appointed,” said Dr. Nunn.  “I think it is so exciting that the museum and cultural work we do in New Mexico is noticed and appreciated on a national level.”

Dr. Nunn has been Art Museum director and chief curator at the NHCC for ten years. During that time, she has grown the NHCC’s visual arts collection by 50 percent and overseen the presentation of more than 30 exhibits.  Before joining the NHCC, Dr. Nunn was curator of contemporary Hispano and Latino collections at the Museum of International Folk Art. She also is a trustee on the Board of El Rancho de las Golondrinas and was a member of the boards of trustees for the American Alliance of Museums and the Western States Arts Federation. Nunn received a B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.

The NMLS board is the advisory body for the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Nunn is one of 10 museum members of the board and was selected to serve based on her expertise and commitment to museums. The full list of board members is available on the NMLS website.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Hispanic culture, arts, and humanities, and is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.
