Weaving & Colcha

New Mexican traditional weaving is alive and thriving at El Rancho de las Golondrinas living history museum. Weavers meet at Las Golondrinas almost everyday from 9:30am to 4pm to demonstrate for visitors, enjoy each others’ company, perfect their skills and learn new techniques.

Men and women who would like to learn any facet of traditional weaving are welcome. There is no charge. Learn traditional activities and crafts like colcha embroidery, washing wool with yucca root, carding, spinning on wheels and malacates, dyeing with vegetable dyes and weaving on two & four-harness looms. Weaving volunteers at the museum demonstrate their craft and interact with visitors from around the world!
