Curator of Collections

The Curator of Collections provides stewardship and access to the Museum’s collection. This position will have the vision and capacity to rethink and define the Museum’s collection and role it plays in presenting New Mexico’s history to the public. This individual reports to the Museum Director.

The Curator of Collections sets the vision for the documentation, care, access and use of the collection and leads the initiatives for collection stewardship also functioning as the collections manager. The Curator of Collections brings passion
and knowledge about history to the identification, care, use and access of theMuseum’s holdings. The Curator of Collections maintains and improves the paper and electronic systems, oversees and provides for the on-going maintenance and integrity of information about the collection, conducts inventories and catalogues objects, develops and recommends policy and procedures for collection activities, and oversees accessions, deaccessions and loans. Research on the collection and answering external research inquiries are also integral to the position. The Curator of Collections recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers and interns in assisting with collection-related activities. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave and 401K. Weekend Operations

The Seasonal Operations Staff will be responsible for teardown and setup for museum events and special events, and perform daily responsibilities including animal feeding, grounds maintenance and janitorial tasks. This position will work Wednesday-
Sunday 8am-4pm and will be the only operations staff on site for non-festival weekends, Festival weekend hours may vary. The Seasonal Operations Staff will work closely with other staff and volunteers. This position is part-time seasonal and does not supervise other staff.

The Seasonal Operations Staff will be required to interact and foster collaborative work-relationships. This position will comply with all internal procedures, processes and policies as listed in this job description and in the Employee Handbook, and adhere to the core values of El Rancho de Las Golondrinas. The Seasonal Operations Staff reports to the Director of Operations and coordinates with the Curator of Agriculture, Assistant Director of Operations and Operations Staff. The Seasonal Operations staff reports to the Managerof Guest Services on non-festival weekends.
