Forty-four years ago, El Rancho de las Golondrinas began a journey toward a dream summed up in our mission statement: “to inspire learning and preserve the legacy of the land through encounters with the traditions and culture of New Mexico’s Hispano past.” Thanks to you and all those who have helped us along the way, we’ve been able to enrich the lives of children and adults from diverse backgrounds all around the world, through our outstanding exhibit experiences and educational programming.
As many of you know, after months of collaborative work, we began 2016 with a Strategic Plan that has guided El Rancho de las Golondrinas this past year and will guide us into the future. We hope you will continue to partner with us on this journey that acknowledges our founders’ intent: “to restore the past, to enrich the present, and to endow the future.”
This year we brought people together to explore New Mexico’s history, created innovative intergenerational programs, promoted life-long learning, and reached students beyond the boundaries of the Museum. Thanks to a newly-minted collections policy, we were better guardians of our collections, buildings, water, and historic landscape and now adhere to the American Alliance of Museum’s Best Practices for Care and Preservation. In 2016 we forged new partnerships that strengthen our community and Museum, provided exciting learning experiences, promoted a diverse audience, and upheld the traditional New Mexican vecino (good neighbor) concept.
As a part of our Las Golondrinas family, you know the value of our exhibits, daily activities and special seasonal festivals, and the one-of-a-kind memories they provide. Your past contributions have supported all that we do, and we truly hope we can count on your support this year.
Please consider making a gift to our Annual Fund, monies that are critical to sustain our operations and help us continue on our quest for excellence. The need is great and your support matters more than ever. Our partner Foundation from California will match every contribution you make, regardless of the amount. Together we can continue to make the dream of Las Golondrinas a reality.
