New Board Members Elected

The Board of Directors and staff of El Rancho de las Golondrinas are pleased to welcome two new Board members.

Jenny Crysler is a volunteer at Las Golondrinas, grew up in New Mexico and has been visiting the Museum her entire life. Jenny is the CPA and the Business Manager at Turquoise Trail Charter School in Santa Fe where she is responsible for all purchasing, accounting, budgeting, payroll, human resources and financial reporting functions. She reports directly to the Head Administrator and Governance Council in relation to financial results, emerging compliance issues, budget monitoring, cash forecasting and general strategic initiatives. She oversees day-to-day operations of the business office, IT, and facility management functions of the school, as well as all aspects of financial reporting, payroll, benefits administration and financial audits.  She also ensures compliance with state regulations.

Prior to this position, Jenny was the Controller for Peyote Bird Designs in Santa Fe. She also worked for Sandia Preparatory School as Chef Financial Officer, the University of New Mexico as their Business Manager for Housing and Food Services and Lovelace Health Systems as a Finance Manager.

Jenny is a graduate of New Mexico State University and holds a B.A. in Accounting. Jenny is the former treasurer of Reading Works in Albuquerque and enjoys hiking, camping and skiing.

Kristin Varela is also a native New Mexican that has been visiting the Museum since she was four years old. Kristin is the Deputy Chief Investment Officer for the Public Employees Retirement Association of New Mexico where she assists the Chief Investment Officer in the design and implementation of the fund’s overall strategic goals, investment policies and programs. She is the day-to-day operator and manager of all investment functions including: investment strategy, risk management, reporting, administrative services and investment process. She also serves as a final review and approval of all investment process decisions.

Prior to this, Kristin served as the Senior Portfolio Manager of the Public Employees Retirement Association of New Mexico where she oversaw and administered a targeted $3.1 billion multi-asset and multi-strategy portfolio of investments, across liquid and illiquid investment strategies, which consisted of a broad range of asset types including Real Estate Investment Trusts, Master Limited Partnerships, Treasury Inflation Protected Securities, Real Estate, Energy, Timberland, Agriculture and Infrastructure.

Kristin also worked for First Santa Fe Advisors as an Investment Analyst. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration and Finance from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas and in 2017 was recognized in Chief Investment Officer Magazines “Forty Under 40 Young Professionals Making Their Mark.”
